SUPRR is a new initiative meant to galvanise assistance for Ukrainian publishing now and after the war. It is a Call to Action to build a strong transnational community of publishers working together to match needs with resources.
SUPRR is forging links with publishing organisations that are supporting the goal of ensuring that a strong, modern and vibrant publishing ecosystem will flourish in Ukraine.
What we do:
üHeld a professional publishing industry panel discussion at the Warsaw Book Fair in May 2022
üRan surveys and wrote a report on publishing in Ukraine (in books and journals)
üHolding a high-level workshop for Ukrainian publishers with Polish publishers – to discuss adaptations to meet EU standards
üArranged for free membership for Ukrainian publishers to trade bodies in the UK and USA (such as ALPSP and AUP and others in the pipeline)
ü Assisting with negotiations with foreign publishers
üEstablished a mentoring scheme via ALPSP
üProviding proof-reading help for English language journals from Ukraine
üHelp with applications for grants to support open access infrastructures
üRunning internships (starting in 2024)
üMaking training materials available
ü Promoting awareness of open access amongst Ukrainian journal publishers
ü Joining forces with others to raise awareness of the needs of Ukrainian publishers at the international level
